Maureen Denise McCormick - the youngest of Richard McCormick's kids - was born at Woodland Hills in 1956. Her father taught school as did her mother, who was a homemaker. Michael Dennis, Kevin and Dennis are her three older brothers. From a young age McCormick enjoyed singing and dance, and she would frequently put on puppet shows for kids in the community. Following her win in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest when she was just 6 year old Pat Domigan called from Jack Wormser Agency to see if McCormick wanted to get into the entertainment industry. McCormick landed her first major task in 1964 when she starred in a TV commercial featuring Mattels latest doll, Baby Pattaburp. That same year, she was featured in another commercial that aired on TV for Chatty Cathy's doll. After that, she was chosen by La Jolla Playhouse to play the character of Wind It up and It breaks. The Brady Bunch McCormick, chosen from more than 1500 auditioned children, was cast as the third of three head-to-head daughters in The Brady Bunch (1969) which starred Florence Henderson and Robert Reed. The show ran for five years. In her autobiography Heres the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice published in 2008 McCormick revealed that during the shows fifth season she nearly lost her virginity to her screen co-star and brother Barry Williams. In 2008, McCormick revealed in her book Heres the story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Identifying My True Voice that in season five of the show, she nearly lost her virginity to Barry Williams. She said that it would be possible, however it was never the best time to do it.
